Clarksville has Maddie Poppe fever

Posted: Updated:

On a busy rural highway in the middle of farm country is a welcoming sign to Clarksville.

Another sign was recently added to the intersection, flashing some love for Clarksville's biggest star, Maddie Poppe.

In downtown Clarksville, it's sign after sign; nearly every business reminding the community of 1,400 people to vote for Maddie.

At Pete and Shorty's, a local bar and grill, people have gathered every Sunday to watch and cheer on Maddie.

"Oh, it is great. She is putting Clarksville back on the map," said Amy Berger, Pete and Shorty's co-owner.

Down the street from the grill, more Maddie pride can be spotted.

One yard sign in front of a home calls her "a superhero," and to the boys inside, she is.

"Very, very excited. Shaking each other. 'She was our babysitter.' It has been fun to watch and watch their excitement. My youngest gets out his guitar and holds it every time she plays," said Jessi Reints.

Maddie Poppe used to babysit her two boys. He youngest got his excitement for music from Maddie.

The two boys remember Maddie playing for them when she babysat.

"She is always happy. She makes everybody else happy at the same time," said Brandt Reints.

All eyes will be on Maddie Poppe as the community of Clarksville waits to see if she will make the top three.

If Maddie makes the top three, she will host a hometown concert in Iowa.
