DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium's summer exhibit opens this weekend.

It's called, 'Da Vinci: The Exhibition'.

Visitors can journey back to the days of the renaissance into the world of visionary genius, Leonardo da Vinci.

There are dozens of recreations of his inventions like early designs of the clock, and submarine. There's also recreated paintings, like the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.

"What I think Dubuquers and the region will find really intriguing about this exhibit is that it touches on so many aspects of what Leonardo da Vinci studied," said Wendy Scardino, director of marketing and communications.

Organizers said there will be activities for the whole family, during opening weekend.

The exhibit opens Saturday, May 12. On Mother's Day, there will be free admission for all moms who are accompanied by a paying child.
