Community mourns loss

Posted: Updated:
CLARKSVILLE (KWWL) -

We're learning more information about a boy killed in a shooting this week.

According to the Butler County Sheriff, authorities were called to a rural part of Clarksville at 4:44 p.m Thursday for an accidental shooting.

When they got there, they found three people all younger than 18.

They also say a boy was fatally wounded.

Right now, students and teachers at the Clarksville Community School are mourning the loss of their fellow student.

School Superintendent Joel Foster confirms, the boy was a freshman.

Mr. Foster says that dealing with the loss of a student or child once is too many times, and he says he's happy he got the chance to meet him.

"A nice young man. A lot of friends. With a small school, it's kind of like family. So, as you can imagine, it's hitting people pretty hard. I think the people of Clarksville are a pretty tight-knit family, and they'll do everything they can to help each other out," Mr. Foster said.

Mr. Foster said there were grief counselors at school Friday to help students or teachers dealing with the loss.

People have reached out with more information about the incident and victim, but we're waiting for authorities or family to confirm that information.

According to the Butler County Sheriff's Office, no further information is available at this time.
