The Flint Hills Resources Shell Rock plant donated $5,000 to the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department and to the Shell Rock Fire Department.

According to a press release, the money will be used to buy new rescue equipment. This will include a supply hose, new suits, gear and other equipment to enhance emergency preparedness and protect firefighters.

Each summer, Flint Hills Resources' sponsors firefighters from communities near its Iowa and Nebraska plants to attend a two-day industrial fire training program.

This year’s training will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 25 and 26.
