LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Wis. (KWWL) -

Friday night around 7:30 p.m. the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office was notified by the Jo Daviess County, Illinois Sheriff's Office that a small airplane made an emergency landing near the intersection of County Road W and Dimmicks Road, in Monticello Township.

Authorities say the pilot notified Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office that the plane was experiencing mechanical failure and the pilot was trying to land at an air strip near Apple Canyon Lake.

The pilot wasn't able to make it to the air strip and was forced to land in a farm field. The male pilot was the only person on the plane and was not injured during the landing.

The plane was located in the field just northwest of 16528 Illinois Lane in Monticello Township. The plane remained upright and arrangements are being made to remove the plane from the field.
