"Butler County Pride" Greene man donates, makes guitar for Maddie Poppe

Posted: Updated:

Another reason to be Butler County proud...

Clarksville native Maddie Poppe has wowed the nation, after making it to the Top 7 on American Idol.

Even the guitar she's been using in her recent performances, has a special Iowa connection.

David Flammang, owner of Flammang Guitars in Greene, has been making guitars for years.

Flammang heard Poppe sing at Greene River Days years ago.

When he heard her perform again this year, this time on American Idol, he knew he wanted to do something to show his support.

"I mean I was like she's practically my neighbor. She's 15 or 20 minutes away from me in Clarksville," Flammang said.

Flammang invited Poppe and her dad to his store and let her pick out a guitar he had made, free of charge.

The next time he would see the guitar she chose, was on live T.V.

But Flammang  says Poppe is special, not just because of her talent, but also because of her kind, humble personality.

Now is such an important time to support Poppe and vote!

Here is what Poppe and her mom posted on Facebook about voting:

"Here’s how YOU can help get Maddie in the Top 5 of American Idol this Sunday! Votes are more crucial than ever right now and we need to reach Americans far and wide! We need to work together to really get the word out! Could I ask all of you to please vote 30 times for Maddie on Sunday during the live show and then ask all your friends to do the same? You can vote the number 10 ten times to 21523, vote ten times through the American Idol app and another ten times through the abc.com website (30 votes total per person). Voting will be open from 7-8:45pm CST when American Idol airs on Sunday, May 6 on ABC. Share! I can’t thank you enough! ??"
