Posted: Updated:

Waterloo native and Columbus High School grad, Pat Kinney, enjoyed a journalism career which spanned more than 40 years, including 34 years with the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier.

He just recently retired from The Courier and daily journalism to join Waterloo's Grout Museum District.

Pat Kinney was the sole guest on The Steele Report, as he talked about some of the most important local stories he covered, including the John Deere strike and the Catholic Church clergy sexual abuse scandal.

A Catholic himself, Kinney said he personally knew some of the people involved right here in the area,.

In a side note,  Pat Kinney says he certainly thanks past and current Courier management for unwavering support provided him throughout this career.

Of current Courier Executive Editor, Nancy Newhoff, at writes, “I would Iike to put in a good word for my boss Nancy Newhoff , who is the Courier Executive Editor and still runs the show. Nancy will mark 40 years at the Courier next year. The Courier is like one of her kids and she fights for it like it is too. If I was ever stuck in a blind alley I’d want Nancy there fighting for me.”
