The name of the victim injured in the shooting in the 1200 block of Bertram St., is John Wayne Lord, age 37 of Cedar Rapids.

The suspect that was found dead is Christopher James Neagle, age 41 of Cedar Rapids.

This incident remains under investigation.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office has confirmed a standoff ended Sunday, with deputies finding the suspect dead.

Authorities say they responded to a shooting in the 1200 block of Bertram St. on Sunday, just before 5 p.m. When they arrived on scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his left foot.

The victim told deputies the person who shot him was still in the home and armed with a gun.

According to authorities, Linn County deputies, along with Mt. Vernon Police, surrounded the home and found the suspect hiding in a detached garage. The suspect reportedly refused to come out after several hours of negotiations.

When deputies went into the garage, they found the suspect dead from, what appeared to be, a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The sheriff's office says the incident is still under investigation. The suspect's name won't be released until family is notified.
