Campers evacuate park

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

At least 31 campers were evacuated from Miller Riverview Park in in Dubuque this afternoon.

According to park manager Bob Koltes, everyone was told to leave by 1 p.m. Sunday, because water was starting to come into the park area.

Koltes says it's not bad right now, but he's expecting it to get much worse by Thursday.

Koltes says it's not out of the ordinary for the park to flood this time of year.

He said that last year, they were open for one week, and then they had to close for at least nine weeks because of flooding.

Koltes says he's hoping it's not as bad as last year.

According to Storm Track Seven Meteorologist Kyle Kiel, minor flooding on the Mississippi River is forecast by the middle of the week.

Other rivers in the area aren't expected to flood right now, but Kyle Kiel will discuss the rain chances in his forecast coming up on KWWL News at Five.
