The Iowa Supreme Court ruled in favor of several cities, appealing a district court ruling from 2017 which essentially banned speed cameras.
A state judge ruled in 2017 the DOT had the authority to order cities to remove their cameras from highways and interstates. This after the DOT told cities to remove and relocate cameras in 2015.
Friday, the state's highest court determined the DOT did not have that right. They reversed the district order.
