Chuck Gipp to retire as Director of the Iowa DNR next Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

After 28 years of public service, Chuck Gipp, Director of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, announced Thursday he will retire, effective next Tuesday.

The 70-year old Republican from Decorah has headed the DNR the past 6 years, after joining the department as Deputy Director in 2011.

Gipp served nine consecutive terms in the Iowa Legislature, rising to House Majority Leader at one point.

Gipp released at statement Thursday saying, “The time has come in my career, when it is time to go home to my family, who have given so much so that I could serve in state government. It has been an absolute pleasure to serve Iowans for the past 28 years.”
