Police: Man leads police on chase, drives minivan through yards in Manchester

Posted: Updated:

A Manchester man was arrested last Friday when officers attempted to stop him from fleeing the scene of a reported fight.

Manchester Chief of Police James Hauschild says Timo Wilson, 37, was arrested Friday, April 20. He faces over 80 charges and citations. This includes Interference with Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury, Operating While Under the Influence (third offense), 5th Degree Criminal Mischief, and dozens of traffic citations.

Manchester police say the incident started when they responded to a reported fight at 110 North Franklin Street. Officers observed a minivan leaving the area without headlights and with the side doors open. They attempted to stop the minivan, but the driver, Timo Wilson, fled the scene.

Officers from the Manchester PD, Iowa State Patrol, and the Delaware County Sheriff's Office pursued Wilson in the downtown business district and through the northern residential area of Manchester. Tire deflation devices were successfully deployed to deflate the minivan's tires, however, Wilson still refused to stop. Officers then used a precision movement once Wilson started driving through yards, which caused the minivan to lose traction and spin out. Wilson took off running once the minivan was pinned by squad cars. Officers were able to take Wilson into custody after a brief foot chase.

Wilson is being held at the Delaware County Jail pending court proceedings.
