Southwest cancels flights for engine inspections

KWWL -

Southwest has already canceled 40 flights today so crews could conduct "accelerated" fan-blade inspections.

Last week, a passenger was killed when an engine failed and broke apart shattering a window.

Southwest released a statement saying the cancellations only make up one percent of Southwest's nearly 4,000 flights.

The Federal Aviation Administration now requires inspections on the type of engine that was involved in the deadly accident last week.

So far, the airline has not announced any cancellations for Monday.
