March of Dimes in Dubuque to hold annual fundraiser April 28

Posted: Updated:

You're invited to show your support for the March of Dimes in Dubuque on Saturday, April 28.  The March for Babies is their largest annual fundraiser.

“March of Dimes leads the fight for the health of all moms and babies,” said Kaley Rigdon, Development Manager for March of Dimes. “We support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy so every baby can have the best possible start.”

This year's Dubuque Ambassador Family is the Manderscheid family.  According to March of Dimes, in 2007, Tricia and Jamie were starting their family.  However, their baby girl, Cameron, arrived 7 weeks too soon, weighing just 4 pounds, seven ounces. She suffered from Amniotic Band Syndrome, had a tumor on her spine, and a collapsed lung.  This caused Cameron to spend the first 27 nights of her life in the NICU at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  Because of this, the Manderscheid family is now dedicated to the work of the March of Dimes.

“As parents, we are so excited to be a part of this event where our community comes together to raise the funds and awareness that can truly make a difference for families,” said Tricia Manderscheid.

The March for Babies will be at Hodge and Berfeld Pond in Dubuque.  On-site registration will begin at 8 a.m.  The 2.7-mile walk will kick off at 9 a.m.

A family fun zone with games and activities for kids will be available beginning immediately after the walk until noon.  Learn more about the March for Babies here.
