(CNN) -

Puerto Rico slammed with several difficulties since Hurricane Maria hit in September 2017.

Now, just eight months later, the entire island is without electricity. Officials say the power should be back within the next 24 to 36 hours. It seems the three million people who live there just can't catch a break.

When Hurricane Mari hit, it completely destroyed the electrical grid and a great portion of the infrastructure.

A report, last week, said Puerto Rico lost $3.4 Billion customer-hours of electricity after the hurricane.

At this time, they don't know what the caused the blackout Wednesday.
