WATERLOO (KWWL) -

UPDATE: According to a Waterloo police report, a student is accused of starting a fire at Hoover Middle School earlier this week.

Students at Hoover Middle School went home early today after a fire broke out in a bathroom around 11 a.m.

The Waterloo School District tells KWWL there were no injuries, but the building was evacuated.

They say fire damage was isolated to the bathroom, but there was some smoke damage in other parts of the building.

Spokeswoman Tara Thomas says the district decided to have an early dismissal because of the areas that were affected.

Classes are expected to resume as normal tomorrow. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
