Pilot all right after Cedar Rapids incident

Posted: Updated:

A pilot is all right after an incident at the Eastern Iowa Airport Sunday afternoon.

According to airport spokesperson, Pam Hinman, the pilot was doing routine (touch and goes).

That's where the pilot practices touching down and taking off, and at some point the plane flipped on the runway.

Hinman says she's not sure whether the pilot was only person on board, but she can confirm everyone is all right.

Hinman didn't have any information to release about the pilot of the plane, but she can confirm it was a smaller, privately-owned aircraft.

The incident happened sometime between 2:30 - 3 p.m., and crews were able to quickly clear the runway.

Hinman confirms at least one outgoing Allegiant flight to Las Vegas was delayed because of the incident, but airport operations are moving smoothly.

Hinman says more information about the incident should be available Monday.
