MAQUOKETA (KWWL) -

The popular Maquoketa Caves State Park will be opening soon after being closed all summer due to construction and electrical upgrades throughout the campground.

The park closed last February and will reopen on August 24. The campground closed in April and will open on August 30.

The Maquoketa Caves State Park, located in Jackson County, attracts about 300,000 visitors to Jackson County each year.

"We're excited that they're not just fixing the roadway, but they're gonna be making some vast improvements that are just gonna make that a stronger asset, and stronger attraction," said Matt Notz, Executive Director of the Maquoketa Area Chamber of Commerce.
