River Museum to feature Leonardo da Vinci in summer exhibit

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

This summer's exhibit at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium will go back hundreds of years to feature a man who was ahead of his time.

"Da Vinci: The Exhibition" will open May 12 and run until October 8.

The exhibit will feature life-size recreations of his inventions, including early designs for the helicopter, tank, crane and submarine.

“It’s one thing to read about history, but it’s another thing to be able to bring that history to life,” said Kurt Strand, President & CEO of the Museum & Aquarium. “Visitors will get to interact with da Vinci’s inventions, move parts, and get a real feel for how these inventions were meant to work. Da Vinci’s ingenuity and artistry were remarkable for a man of his time.”

The museum will host Da Vinci days on the second and fifth Saturdays of the month throughout the exhibits time on display.  You can expect additional presentations or activities on those days.
