Update: Grill may have started fire

Posted: Updated:

Linn County authorities are releasing more information about an afternoon house fire.

According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, firefighters were called to a home at 407 High Avenue in Springville at 3:20 p.m. and the home was engulfed in flames.

Homeowners Mark and Christina Kirchmann say a grill may have been the cause of the fire.

Mr. Kirchmann was taken to Mercy Hospital and should be all right.

A few firefighters were also treated on scene but refused transport.

The home was destroyed, and the American Red Cross is helping with the fire.

Right now, the Springville Fire Department continues to investigate the house fire..

According to witnesses, they could see thick, black smoke, and then they called 911 around 3 p.m. Saturday for a house fire.

We're working to confirm information with authorities, but witnesses say it appears everyone made it out all right.

Linn County Area Fire Photography sent us these pictures of the flames.

We hope to have more details on KWWL News at 6.
