Waterloo school buses get new technology to improve safety

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A new way to keep our kids safe...

There's a new device on some eastern Iowa school buses that is working to help bus drivers on the road.

Making sure our students get to and from school safely is a big concern every morning.

This school year the Waterloo School District's buses have new technology on them. It's called DriveCam.

It's a camera that turns on and records if a bus makes any unexpected or quick movement. The camera will be on 8 seconds before the movement, during the movement and after.

A company then takes this footage, and lets management for the Waterloo School buses know if there were any times their bus drivers might have done something incorrect.

DriveCam can also let management know if the bus driver does something really well.
