LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Linn County Sheriff's Office says a man has life-threatening injuries after colliding with a semi-truck and trailer while driving on Williams Boulevard north of Fairfax on Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies say 30-year-old Aaron Sturtz, of Fairfax, was driving a Ford truck north on Williams Boulevard around 8 a.m. when he rear-ended the semi-truck, which was stopped in the northbound lane.

Sturtz was airlifted to Iowa City for treatment, according to deputies. They say he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision. A 30-year-old man from Middle Amana was behind the wheel of the semi, and was not hurt in the accident. Deputies say there were no passengers in either vehicle.

Both the Linn County Sheriff's Office and Marion Police Department continue to investigate the crash, while the Fairfax Fire Department, Linn County Rescue 57, Iowa Department of Transportation, AirCare Air Ambulance and Area Ambulance Service also assisted at the scene this morning.
