DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Dubuque is getting some new exposure.

The entertainment site Thrillist.com said its overlooked, naming it the most underrated city in Iowa to visit.

The article listed a city for all 50 states, places visitors might not expect to enjoy themselves.

"I take that as a good thing, not overrated, underrated," said President and CEO of Travel Dubuque, Keith Rahe. "That people don't acknowledge it as being a place to -- hey we should go see this."

The article mentioned the gorgeous riverfront scenery, and lots more make Dubuque special.

"We're very much a great family destination, from the National Mississippi River Museum, to the Fenelon Place Elevator, to the Riverwalk," Rahe said.

Dubuque's revitalization, including in the Millwork District is also brought up.

"The last 10 to 15 years, we've really just scratched the surface, as a viable destination, continues to grow on a daily, monthly basis."

Another reason the article said Dubuque is underrated is because it inspired the best selling novel, A Game of Thrones. Years ago, the author, George R.R. Martin lived in town.

Some of the other cities listed are Sacramento, California, Fort Worth, Texas and Duluth, Minnesota.
