Cedar Falls boys earn trip to the state tournament with 62-56 sub-state win over Hempstead

Cedar Falls battled back from a 6-point halftime deficit to earn a trip to the Class 4A state tournament, with a 62-56 victory over Dubuque Hempstead Tuesday night at the McLeod Center.

Green hit 6 three's and made 12 free throws to lead all scorers with 32 points in the Tiger victory.

The two highly ranked teams traded baskets all night long. Hempstead led at half, 32-28, as Upper Iowa recruit Lucas Duax led the mustangs with 31-points.

The victory sends Cedar Falls to the boys state tournament next Monday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Watch the game highlights.
