Confederate flag stolen from Waterloo couple's yard

Posted: Updated:

A Waterloo couple wants to know who stole their confederate flag from their front yard. The suspect(s) also vandalized their home, throwing a rock through their front window.

Roxy Day and her boyfriend Ron were sleeping Monday night in their home in the 2700 block of Lafayette St. when it happened.

"We heard the big crash," said Day. "It scared me to death."

They awoke to a loud bang, and shattered glass all over their living room. Someone had thrown a rock into their front window into their living room.

"Broken glass everywhere...everywhere," said Day.

When Day's boyfriend Ron came outside, they saw that their Confederate flag was also missing.

"It was a rebel flag with a Harley Davidson on it," said Day. "It was to represent Harley Davidson. And nothing more, you know? And I don't know if that could have been a factor or what."

Day says her boyfriend Ron is a 26-year veteran who just loves to ride.

"He loves his Harley's," said Day. "He almost got killed last year on his bike. And he just recently got a new one...cause it meant everything Harley to him."

Day says they called police and filed a report. Waterloo police say they have no suspects at the time.

The couple says the suspect(s) did not leave any note or message.

Day says she believes it's someone who has something against motorcycles.

"Maybe it was just some random person too," said Day. "Because we got a lot of lawn ornaments that we put out in the summer too that are motorcycle stuff, and some of those motorcycle stuff went missing this last summer."

The couple says they will be getting security cameras in the future.
