Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley prepares for 18th annual 'Appetite for Service'

Posted: Updated:

March 24 will be a night of fun and giving in the Cedar Valley.  The Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley will be hosting their annual Appetite for Service dinner and auction at the Beaver Hills Country Club.

Now in its 18th year, Appetite for Service features community leaders who serve dinner to a decorated table of eight, all while working to raise funds for the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley.

"Appetite for Service is the Volunteer Center's annual fundraising gala that engages many business and individual sponsors to support the great work of the organization," said Ashley Ungs, President of the Volunteer Center's Board of Directors.  "Through this event, dollars are raised to continue to engage thousands of people in opportunities to volunteer throughout the Cedar Valley Community."

The Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley assists 157 non-profit agencies in the Cedar Valley by recruiting volunteers and helping them to build their skills in recruiting, managing and retaining volunteers.  Any community-based, non-profit organization in the Cedar Valley is encouraged to join VCCV.

"The Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley serves the community to promote and support volunteerism.  We're a one-stop-shop for people who are looking to get involved in service experiences throughout the community," said Executive Director, Lauren Finke.

You can become a table sponsor for $750 and serve your table, or work with the VCCV to find a celebrity server for your table.  Servers will serve a gourmet dinner to eight of your friends, while doing whatever it takes to raise tips.  The top server will even win an award.

"This event is a fun night out that includes a lively atmosphere with fun celebrity servers taking care of guests while vying for a chance to win the coveted 'Silver Tray of Service' award," said Ungs.

All of the funds raised at Appetite for Service greatly support their mission.  Appetite for Service runs from 6 until 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 24.  Beaver Hills Country Club is located at 8230 Beaver Hills Dr. in Cedar Falls.

If you're interested in reserving a table, contact VCCV here or call 319-272-2087.
