FAYETTE COUNTY (KWWL) -

Officers in Fayette County say the top of a car was crushed after it rolled several times in an accident this morning.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office took a 911 call regarding the single-car crash just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, and found the car on its top at the scene along R Avenue south of 170th Street, near Hawkeye.

Officers say a 23-year-old man from Independence was behind the wheel, and was able to free himself and also pull a 17-year-old passenger out of the car. Both were taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance and have unknown injuries at this time.

The Sheriff's office is currently investigating the crash, and say charged are pending. Hawkeye Fire assisted sheriff's officers at the scene.
