Waterloo Police: 6 arrested, 7 stolen guns found after police chase, shots fired call

It all started with a police chase, and it ended with 7 stolen guns found and 6 people behind bars.

In one investigation, Waterloo Police say early Wednesday morning, officers located a vehicle that has been reported stolen out of Benton County. Police say when officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver then led officers on a short chase. Authorities say the driver lost control and slid into a Waterloo snowbank. Three suspects ran away and were apprehended a short distance away.

Police say they found out the suspects involved in the chase were also allegedly involved in a burglary at the Karma Bar in Waterloo. Officers were able to get search warrants and found several pieces of evidence, including stolen guns.

In a second investigation, officers responded to a shots fired call at 4th and Wellington. Officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle and suspects involved. They also found another gun.

As a result of both investigation, the Waterloo Police Department recovered 7 stolen guns.

The following suspects were arrested and charged in Black Hawk County District Court:

-- Elvis Puric, 28, charged with Interference with Official Acts, 3rd Degree Attempted Burglary, Burglary 3rd Degree, Theft 1st, Trafficking Stolen Weapons
-- Antonio McGhee, 27, charged with Eluding Police, Driving while license suspended, Interference with Official Acts, 3rd Degree Attempted Burglary, 3rd Degree Burglary, Theft 1st, and Trafficking Stolen Weapons.
-- Suad Covic, 25, charged with 3rd Degree Attempted Burglary, 3rd Degree Burglary, Theft 1st, Trafficking Stolen Weapons, and Possession of Firearms as Felon, Interference with Official Acts, Possession of Marijuana.
-- Salih Golubovic, 34, charged with Trafficking Stolen Weapons, Possession of Firearm as Felon, and Theft 1st
-- Adis Didovic, 36, charged with Local warrant, Theft 1st
-- Devanta Riley, 23, arrested as the result of the unrelated shots fired call, charged with Carrying Weapons, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, and going Armed with Intent. 

This investigation has resulted in the 300th firearm being recovered by the Waterloo Police Violent Crime Apprehension Team.

Multiple agencies are involved in this ongoing investigation.
