Hunter Rhodes leads UNI to victory in his first career start as a Panther

Posted: Updated:

UNI Senior, Hunter Rhodes, took advantage of his first career start as a Panther. Rhodes scored 12 points to lead Northern Iowa to a 47-41 victory over Evansville Tuesday night in the McLeod Center. Rhodes also sank 2 free throws with 29-seconds left to play to help seal the win.

It's the 50th time a Ben Jacobson-coached UNI team has held an opponent under 50-points. The 41-points is the lowest point total this season for the Panthers, who improved their season record to 13-14, and 5-10 in Valley play.

The Valley's leading scorer, Ryan Taylor, led Evansville with a game-high 26.

For UNI, Bennett Koch had 10-points and 9 rebounds. Freshman, Tywhon Pickford, had 10-rebounds for the Panthers.

UNI next plays Saturday on the road at Illinois State. It's a 5 pm tip at Redbird Arena in Normal, Illinois.
