Hot shooting helps Kansas beat Iowa State, 83-77

Iowa State's Cameron Lard scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds, but the Cyclones could not find the magic Tuesday night at Hilton Coliseum in a 83-77 loss to # 13 Kansas.

For Lard, the current Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the week, it was his second straight double- double.

Udoka Azubuike led Kansas with 19 points, hitting 9 of 10 on the floor for the 20-6 Jayhawks.

The loss drops Iowa State to 13-12 on the season and 4-9 in conference play.

Zoran Talley scored a season high 15 for the Cyclones and Nick Weiler-Babb returned from his injury to score 14. Weiler-Babb missed four games.

Iowa State outrebounded Kansas, 40-31, but could not get any closer than 3 points in the second half.

Kansas shot 61.5 per cent from the floor in the second half, after leading at half, 39-34.
