DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Dubuque's rich brewing history is on display in the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium's newest exhibit, "DuBREWque".

The exhibit was curated by museum staff, using pieces from their own collection and from local donors.

"It's not a traveling exhibit. It's really about the history of the area. Really, they've done a beautiful job in recreating that history and displaying that in fun and creative ways," said Wendy Scardino with the River Museum.

The exhibit features everything from information on Dubuque's earliest breweries, to how the area dealt with prohibition.

There are bar games, including a chance to race a friend to see who can fill a beer first.

The staff there says it's a true celebration of not only the history of brewing in Dubuque, but also what's going on right now.

"We are seeing a renaissance of breweries popping up all over the state, all over the country and especially in Dubuque. And this lent itself really well to talking about that innovative story about how these breweries were innovating long ago and how they're innovating again today," Scardino said.

The exhibit runs through Apr. 22, and price is included in your admission to the museum.
