WATERLOO (AP) -

107 animals.

That's how many were found in a Waterloo home last month.

Now Animal Control has a message to pet owners.

Animal Control seized more than 60 rabbits, 3 ferrets, 5 dogs, 14 guinea pigs and 21 cats from inside the home.

A unique chinchilla dwarf rabbit was in the home.

Some of the animals had ear mites and fleas because of unsanitary conditions.

Animal Control says they want to remind pet owners that the Waterloo ordinance does limit the number of pets you can have in your home.

"The total animals you can have in Waterloo are four dogs and four cats. You can't have eight dogs or eight cats," Animal Control officer Ryan Doland says.

He also says it's very important for pet owners to make sure they spay and neuter their pets.

This Waterloo case happened just weeks after a story out of Vinton, where a home there had close to 1,000 animals inside of it.

At this time, no charges have been filed against either of the owners.

Some of the animals from the Waterloo home are still at the Cedar Bend Humane Society, waiting for adoption.

All of the rabbits have been adopted. Some cats and a dog are still looking for a new place to live.
