Black Hawks top Chicago 3-2, take over first place

The Waterloo Black Hawks rallied in the third period too defeat Chicago 3-2 and take over first place overall in the USHL.

Waterloo's only lead in the game came with 1:07 remaining when Ben Finkelstein fed Garrett Wait beside the net for the goal, his fourth game winning goal of the season.

After trailing 1-0 after the first period, Waterloo knotted it in the second as Ben Copeland broke away for a short-handed tally that would send the game to the third tied at 1-1.

Chicago took a 2-1 lead on an early third period power play, but Waterloo countered with their own at the 11:09 mark. Jack Drury scored from the top of the crease, pushing the shot over the goal line in traffic.

Waterloo holds a one point lead over Omaha in the Western Conference. The Black Hawks have won seven of their last nine games.
