Posted: Updated:

A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student in the Waterloo Community School District through the Waterloo Community Foundation.  Applications are now being accepted.

The Quest Scholarship was founded by Waterloo residents and community volunteers, Michael and Barbara Henning.

"We believe education is the key to success of our community's youth," said the Hennings.  "This is one way we can make a difference."

Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited public college, university or community college in Iowa full-time beginning in the fall 2018.  They must be planning to pursue a career in education or science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).  They also must currently have a minimum GPA of 2.9 and a minimum of 16 hours of volunteer service during their senior year of high school.

Applications are available in the counseling offices at East, West and Expo High Schools.  The scholarship will be awarded in the spring.
