Yesterday was a dangerous day on Iowa roads.

Iowa State Patrol confirms there were 185 accidents statewide from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. yesterday. 7 people were killed.

Sergeant Nathan Ludwig of the Iowa State Patrol told  WHO in Des Moines many drivers forget what it's like to drive in the snow.

"All of these accidents happened because people were traveling too fast for conditions and they're not allowing themselves ample time to stop and they're trying to drive right behind the car in front of them," said Sgt. Ludwig.

The Story County Sheriff's Office says one person  died in a crash along an Iowa interstate near Ames yesterday. The crash, which happened along Interstate 35, involved as many as 70 vehicles.

There were several deadly accidents in eastern Iowa.

Police say two people died in a crash along I-380 near Highway 30 in Cedar Rapids yesterday.

One person died in a chain-reaction crash in Cedar County yesterday.

Two teenagers died after a car lost control and slid sideways into oncoming traffic in Winneshiek County Monday morning.
