WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Waterloo Black Hawks lit the lamp often on Friday night to defeat first-place Tri-City 4-1 in Young Arena. The victory pulled the Black Hawks within two points of the Storm in the standings.

Garrett Klee opened the scoring in the first period when his one-timer squirted through the glove of keeper Filip Larsson. Evan Dougherty added a second midway through the second, but Tri-City countered with a goal late in the period. Ben Copeland put it away early in the third, while Jackson Cates added an empty-netter in the Black Hawks' win.

Waterloo has won five of their last seven games.
