KWWL takes part in Go Red for Women's 'National Wear Red Day'

Posted: Updated:

Today is the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women's annual 'National Wear Red Day.'  The day spreads awareness of heart disease by people uniting through wearing red across the country, and donating to Go Red for Women.

Cardiovascular diseases are the number one killer of women, claiming the life of a woman about every 80 seconds. However, research shows about 80-percent of cardiovascular diseases may be prevented.  Heart disease and stroke may be prevented by understanding your family health history, knowing your numbers and making lifestyle changes.

Go Red For Women's goal this year is the raise $2M.  As of 8:30 p.m. CT, they have raised $1,569,580.  If you'd like, you can donate here

It was a sea of red at KWWL today, as staff participated in this important day.  If you also wore red, post your photos on Twitter with #WearRedandGive, and also under this story on our KWWL Facebook page.
