'Can somebody tell us something': Family pleads for help to find missing Waterloo woman

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

UPDATE: Waterloo Police are still actively searching for a missing Waterloo woman.

40-year-old Lakisha Williams was last seen on January 20. They say Lakisha Williams, who also goes by her maiden name of Lakisha Owens, was last seen at a home in the 3800 block of Paige Drive.

She's described as a black woman with brown eyes and black hair. She's 40 years old, stands 5'3" tall and weighs 180 pounds.

"At this time we have no evidence of foul play but that doesn’t mean foul play has been ruled out," said Captain Joe Leibold. "Until we develop more information there are a lot of unknowns."

Waterloo police have talked to friends and family, but are still looking for Williams. For almost a week, Williams' family has been worried sick.

"No one knows where she at," said Williams' Aunt Wanda James. "I'm not understanding this because she never missed work. Even if she missed, she would call her job and say this is what she got going on, and they would understand that. But for her job to call for a welfare check because she's a no call-no show is very strange."

Williams worked at Grainger and her family says it was out of character for her, to even miss a single day of work.

Concerned neighbor, Leon Mosley, lives across the street from Williams.

"That's the only thing I know her to do," said Mosley. "To go home and to work. Home and to work. It's just weird, it's too weird. And like everybody is saying.....it's not adding up."

According to her family, Williams doesn't have a car so she doesn't drive, often using a taxi to get to work.

KWWL asked James where her niece was last seen.

"At her house, a taxi dropped her off," said James. "Several different places before that she was seen, Money and More, Casey's on La Porte. Just people seen her different places, and she seemed to be upset."

Williams' family have been cooperating with police, but they are struggling to understand what happened.

"It doesn't make sense," said James. "We go in her house-her TV is left on. Kisha doesn't leave her stuff on. Where is anything of hers? Where's her purse? Does she have on clothes? What was she last seen in? Can somebody tell us something."

With little information, the family says they have one plea-to bring Williams home.

"If she's fearing for something, that she just wants a moment of silence to herself, that's what I'm praying for."

If you've seen her, call the Waterloo Police Department at (319) 291-2515.
