Community staple has final night of business

Posted: Updated:

A sign reading "Today we open at 3:00, no lunch service. Thank you" greeted customers on the door of Lebowski's Bar and Grill on its final day. This comes after an announcement was made of its closing on Monday, to the restaurant's Facebook page

Many customers came out to say their last goodbyes to the family owned bar and grill on Tuesday night. According to one customer, he and many other customers were more than happy to wait, even forty five minutes, to have one last visit.

"I was not happy, yeah very disappointed. It had become a staple for us.", Kent Guthrie said at the news of Lebowski's having to close its doors.

He said this had been a great gather place for the small town, "Here in the square you've got businesses like you know, the eye doctor and the bank and stuff but there is no real social place to come, this was it. It really tied the town together."

The Facebook post sites recent construction in the area as having led the restaurant to hard times. Guthrie says they were hoping the new construction would help bring more business expansion to the area -- not lose some.

The parking lot was so packed, cars were spilling over into surrounding lots and streets on Lebowski's final night. This closing comes just weeks before what would have been its two-year anniversary.
