Waterloo play focuses on school shootings and the aftermath

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Starting this week, the Waterloo Community Playhouse will take on a play that examines the aftermath of a school shooting.

"The Library" considers how events after the shooting impact those who survive them.

The topic is not an easy one, but so many are trying to figure out how to stop them and prevent more people from getting killed.

The play centers on 16-year-old Caitlin Gabriel, a girl who had just been shot and seriously injured in her school's library.

Some are blaming her for telling the school shooter where other students are hiding. We hear from her, her parents, reporters and others.

Parts of the play are based off real events that happened during the 1999 columbine shooting.

The play is not about taking sides or about guns. It's about the stories, secrets, and reactions to a tragedy.

The show runs from Friday, January 19-Sunday, January 28.
