Update: Cedar Rapids Man Accused of Shooting Wife, Stabbing Himself

UPDATE: Police in Cedar Rapids say a man shot his wife and then stabbed himself during a disturbance on Saturday.

42-year-old Marc Campbell was taken to the Linn County Jail today, after being treated for traumatic injuries in an area hospital. Officers say he fired a gun inside an apartment building along Ashton Place on Saturday, with a shot hitting 28-year-old Kameesha Nathaniel.

Police say Nathaniel left the apartment after being shot, but was found inside the building by first responders and taken to the hospital. There's no update available on her condition at this time.

Campbell was found nearby with what investigators say was a self-inflicted stab wound. He's now facing charges of Attempted Murder, Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury and Possession of a Firearm as a Felon.

Police also say they're investigating a secondary shooting in a nearby parking lot that appears to be related to the initial shooting. The details of this shooting are still under investigation.

UPDATE: Cedar Rapids police say they're investigating a shooting reported Saturday night.

Police were called to 515 Ashton Place NE around 8:26 p.m.

Police say they were initially concerned about an active shooter in the area because of the phone calls into the command center, but they don't believe that was the case after investigating the situation further.

According to police, they believe this was a domestic disturbance, and a woman was shot.

Police say her gunshot wound is serious.

The man involved in the incident is recovering from a traumatic injury.

Police say they believe these two people know each other, and they don't believe there was an active shooter in the apartment complex.

Authorities say they don't believe the public is any danger.

Initially, several conflicting stories came into the police department, and Cedar Rapids police say they're working to

A caller from the C Avenue and Boyson Road area says there's a heavy police presence right now.

According to Cedar Rapids Watch Command, they're working to learn more details at this time, and they can confirm a 911 call came in about the incident around 8:26 p.m.
