Veteran's construction trailer stolen on Veterans Day

Posted: Updated:

Iowa native, Jamie Tielbar, should be spending the evening playing with his three-year-old son.  Instead, he's making a list of all the equipment that he lost when his T-Bar's Construction trailer was stolen from a job site this past Saturday.

"I didn't know what to think at first. My heart just kind of dropped. I can't believe somebody did that. You think, everything is in a trailer, who is going to steal a whole trailer? Especially along a busy highway," said Tielbar.

The trailer was stolen from a construction site on Highway 150, on the south edge of Oelwein. A very busy road, Tielbar is hoping someone saw his trailer leave the lot.

The tools are Tielbar's livelihood.  But before he was constructing buildings, he was saving lives.

"My grandpa, he was in the service. I had an uncle that was in the service. Keep a family tradition going; I've always wanted to do it, ever since I was a kid," said Tielbar, who served in the United States Army.

Tielbar says the fact someone stole the trailer on Veterans Day is just a low blow.

"Being a veteran or not, I don't know why people can't work anymore? Everybody is trying to find the easy way out; stealing everything. I don't know what the world is coming to. It is crappy," said Tielbar.

Unfortunately, Tielbar says he found out that not all of his equipment was covered by his insurance policy, and those losses will come out of his pocket.

Tielbar says he is offering a reward for anyone who can help him recover the stolen trailer and tools.
