UPDATE: "I just want him back," Stephanie Rinearson told KWWL in a statement on Monday.

She confirms her boyfriend Tarrence Newman was the victim of a homicide Sunday night and that they are expecting a child.

Police say they were called to a home Sunday night in the 1500 block of D Avenue NE and arrived to find a body on the porch.

They are investigating the death as a homicide but have not said how Newman was killed.

An autopsy is pending at this time.

A neighbor told KWWL she heard a loud noise and then saw a couple of people running from the scene.

Rinearson messaged with us on Facebook this afternoon writing, "Tarrence was just very love and caring and up beat and happy and positive all the time never a dull moment it was an adventure with him I was never bored he was funny very affectionate loved his cars I'm gonna miss morning kisses on my forehead and his voice and him calling me muffin cake always made sure I was ok no matter what and I'm said I couldn't make sure he was I let him down I wasn't there like I should have been to have his back I miss his smell our talks our movie nights our random snack runs I miss him and I just want him back everyone does."

Investigators were still on scene this afternoon.

Several evidence markers and crime tape could be seen at the home.

The homicide happened just feet away from the Coe College football field.

Coe College student Joel Smetzer lives nearby.

"We had initially seen out the window the lights, we came out and checked it out but we didn't really know what to think of it at first but we were kind of surprised when we heard that it was a homicide," he told us.

The news was surprising to others as well, like Tony Aguilar who just moved into a home across the street this afternoon.

"For me to actually close today, drive up and see this happening, it's kind of shocking," he says.

Police have not made any arrest in this case.
