BUTLER COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says it's investigating a spill and fish kill near Allison in Butler County.

According to a press release sent by the DNR, the owner of Jefferson Finisher farm found a leak from a hog confinement and worked to fix it after manure had flowed into a grass waterway, into an underground tile line and into a tributary of the West Fork of the Cedar River.

The owner worked with Iowa Select Farms to dam the tributary and pump the contaminated water in the creek.

DNR staff have seen one fish dead, but so far, no others.

The DNR will continue to monitor the cleanup and will consider appropriate enforcement action.
