Posted: Updated:

Help is being offered to deserving families with loved ones fighting cancer.

Established in memory of cancer victims Julie and James Avery, the Avery Foundation  http://averyfndtn.org  is up and running and ready to provide help for families dealing with cancer in the Tri-states area of Dubuque.

The Avery Foundation mission says it all: “With care and concern for families and patients dealing with treatments for cancer, we want to help with the street of those struggling with the added costs of travel, meals and lodging.”

That means Avery Foundation grant applications are now available online at: averyfndtn.org

From the foundation website, interested families can download the application, fill it out and mail it to the Avery Foundation address: Avery Foundation, 3058 Deerwood Circle Dubuque, Iowa, 52003

Grants will be awarded with mileage paid at $0.45 a mile, based on Mapquest from a patient's home to to a cancer center.

Hotel stays will pay up to $75.00 a night.

Meals will be paid up to $7.00 for breakfast, $10.00 for lunch and $15.00 for dinner.

Applications are reviewed by the Avery Foundation Board of Directors within 30-days. A completed application does not guarantee any payments.

Family members established the Avery Foundation with the past year in honor and memory of their beloved sister, Julie Avery and brother, James D. Avery. Julie battled her cancer from June of 1981 until her death in August of 1982. James was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2014, and lost his battle on December 5, 2015.
