IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa's early season took a bit of a hit over the weekend. The Hawkeyes have lost forward Nicolas Baer for 3-to-4 weeks after he suffered a broken finger in practice.

“Nicholas has played great in preseason practices and this is an unfortunate setback,” Hawkeyes coach Fran McCaffery said in a statement. “We expect Nicholas to make a full recovery and look forward to him rejoining his teammates on the court soon.”

Baer earned the Big Ten's Sixth Man of the Year award after a season that say him lead Iowa in rebounding (5.8), steals (1.4), and blocked shots (1.3). The sophomore forward could potentially miss Iowa's first two Big Ten games against Penn State and Indiana if he's out the full four weeks.
