We take a break from the dead of winter for the next couple of days. Highs this afternoon reach the low to mid-20s. A breezy southwest wind helps us warm today. Say goodbye to overnight lows in the subzero range. Mostly cloudy skies typically mean more efficient cooling, we only reach the low to mid-teens overnight (again thanks to the southwesterly wind).

Even milder air tracks in for Thursday. Highs reach the low to mid-30s. That is above normal for this time of year. Upper 30s to low 40s track in for Friday and Saturday.

Our next storm system comes this weekend. A wintry mix looks possible Sunday before changing to snow on Monday. Both of those days also feature strong winds. The precipitation type and placement is dependent on the track of the storm. Early indications show the heavy snow would be across northwest Iowa and rain/snow in southeast Iowa. Stay updated on the forecast as this might change. Temperatures may fall through the day Monday.
