Hudson crushes undefeated Lynnville-Sully, 30-0: Pirates to the state semi-finals

Undefeated Hudson crushed top-ranked and undefeated Lynnville-Sully, 30-0, Friday, sending the Pirates to the Class A state semi-finals next Friday morning to face undefeated St. Ansgar.

Lynnville-Sully was no match for the Pirates smothering defense, while the Hudson offense dominated all night long.

Hudson made a statement early against the top-ranked Class A team, as junior quarterback, Jacob Murray, fired two first half touchdown passes to Alec Staebell and Alex Hageman.

Staebell had another big night on offense, scoring a rushing touchdown, following a 64-yard open field run.

Christian Seres continued his dominating season, scoring on a long touchdown run in the second quarter, as the Pirates went up 27-0.

Wes Geisler added a 37-yard field goal as time expired at half to give the Pirates a 30-0 halftime lead, and that would be more than enough in the 30-0 victory.

Hudson will face undefeated St. Ansgar in the Class A semi-finals Friday morning at 10:06 in the UNI Dome.

St. Ansgar dominated Gladbrook-Reinbeck Friday night in a 35-7 victory over the Hudson District rival.

It's Hudson's first back back to the semi-finals since the Pirates won the Class 1A state title in 1994.
