JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

Two men from New York are in custody after more than 80 pounds of marijuana were seized during a traffic stop along Interstate 80.

The discovery happened during a traffic stop along the eastbound side of the highway near mile marker 240 in Coralville around 9:05 p.m. Thursday night, according to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office. An officer pulled a car over for a traffic violation, and then found 82 pounds of marijuana in the trunk during an ensuing search with the consent of the driver.

Behind the wheel was 24-year-old Juan Salcedo, of New York City. Officers say Salcedo admitted the car was rented, and he was driving the drugs back to New York. 32-year-old Jairo Rodriguez from the Bronx, New York, was also in the car. Both men are now in the Johnson County Jail facing drug charges.

A post on the Johnson County Sheriff's Office showing the picture of the seized marijuana says in part, "Deputy Cody O'Hare was busy last night. This is what 82 pounds of marijuana looks like."
