'I haven't seen her this happy in a long time': Make-A-Wish sends Evie to Disney World

Posted: Updated:

A 3-year-old eastern Iowa girl in a tough battle with cancer gets a chance to smile in Disney World.

Evie Mueller of Cedar Falls has been battling stage four liver cancer. Sadly, her family tells us the cancer has recently spread to her brain. Doctors recently released her from treatment in Omaha.

Her mother Taylor Fairman says, "There are a few more spots in her brain that are non-operable and chemo isn't an option, so we are enjoying our time right now."

When Make-A-Wish Iowa heard about Evie's story, they acted fast.

"We just asked how fast can it happen and Make-A-Wish was fantastic and made it happen," Fairman says.

Like many 3-year-olds, Evie adores Mickey and the Disney Princesses. This week, Make-A-Wish made her dream come true, sending Evie, her mom and her grandparents to Disney World.

Fairman says, "I haven't seen her this happy in a long time."

They are doing it all, from a Halloween dance party with Mickey to spending the day at SeaWorld.

Fairman says, "I've been saying I just take things one day at a time, but right now it's kind of one hour at a time. You just literally learn to enjoy every single moment and just cherish it."

Tomorrow, Make-A-Wish is planning for Evie to have a princess make-over. Her mother says her favorites are Elsa and Rapunzel.

Evie's 4th birthday is coming up on November 11. Her mother says she would love to get birthday cards, so if you would like to send Evie a card send one to:
